Exactly 40 years ago, Lisa Macuja Elizalde made a defining decision that reshaped the country’s cultural landscape. At the height of a flourishing career with the Kirov Ballet in Moscow, now known as the Mariinsky Ballet, she chose to return to the Philippines.
