Jollibee teams up with NAS to shape the next generation of Filipino sports champions

Jollibee has committed to helping the National Academy of Sports (NAS) nurture future Filipino athletes by donating P5 million worth of sports equipment. This contribution aims to support the academy's goal of developing world-class Filipino talent.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed on Sept. 18, 2024, at the Department of Education Complex in Pasig City, with the ceremonial turnover of the donation held on Oct. 7, 2024, at NAS in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac.

Jollibee Philippines president Ferns Yu Jr. emphasized the company’s dedication to Filipino pride: “We are focusing our efforts in helping build the next generation of world-class Pinoys. This is why we are supporting institutions like NAS, whose aim is to develop homegrown Filipino sports talents.”

The event was attended by Education Secretary Sonny Angara, NAS executives, local officials, and double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo. 

Yulo delivered an inspirational message to aspiring athletes, underscoring the importance of perseverance and the impact of strong support from institutions like NAS and Jollibee.

The NAS, established through Republic Act 11470, aims to produce well-rounded student-athletes equipped to compete globally. It offers a specialized curriculum integrating secondary education with training in eight sports, including gymnastics, swimming, and taekwondo.

Angara remarked, “My wish is for our young athletes—the future Caloys, EJs, and Hidilyns—to succeed in their sports and grace the podium with their heads held high for the country.”
