This collaboration is a key component of IBPAP’s Roadmap 2028, which seeks to bolster the industry’s global competitiveness and talent development.
Through Google Career Certificates, Filipinos will gain industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields such as cybersecurity, data analytics, IT support, UX design, and project management, Google Philippines said in a statement.
Additionally, participants will have access to Google’s AI Essentials course on Coursera, equipping them with critical artificial intelligence skills to thrive in the rapidly evolving IT-BPM landscape, it said.
“IBPAP is proud to work with Google to strengthen our talent pool with essential skills for higher-value IT-BPM roles,” said Jack Madrid, president and CEO of IBPAP.
“This partnership is key to reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a global IT-BPM leader, ensuring our workforce remains competitive.”
“Google is dedicated to fostering growth in the Philippines through AI and upskilling initiatives. Our collaboration with IBPAP exemplifies this commitment,” said Jackie Wang, country director of Google Philippines and Thailand.
Wang emphasized Google's commitment: “By equipping Filipinos with in-demand skills, we hope to contribute to the country’s economic progress and digital future.”
In 2024, the Philippine IT-BPM sector posted $38 billion in revenue and provided jobs for 1.82 million people. However, bridging the skills gap is critical to meeting Roadmap 2028’s ambitious targets of $59 billion in revenue and 2.5 million jobs.
This initiative positions the Philippines to further solidify its status as a global hub for high-complexity IT-BPM services, driven by cost efficiency and world-class talent. --Ed: CSN
