Held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, the auction set world records — a testament to the continued vibrancy of the local art market.
Two new world auction records based on size were set: P37,376,000 for National Artist Jose Joya’s 1962 Flight and P12,848,000 for National Artist Vicente Manansala’s 1965 Untitled (Carabaos). In addition, a new auction standard was set for Fernando Zobel’s Erenos from his Saeta series, which achieved P28,032,000.
The sale of the Joya was marked by furious, energetic bidding—in person, online, and by phone—driving the price up by more than 400 percent from its presale estimate.
The strong results from estate pieces—like those from the collection of the distinguished Philippine statesman and selections from the art collection of the late fashion icon Auggie Cordero—show that Salcedo Auctions has earned the trust and confidence of both consignors and buyers when it comes to offering their objects of value.
