DOTr, Aklan boosts tourism and health with new bike lanes

The Department of Transportation inaugurated new bike lanes and pedestrian paths in Kalibo, Aklan, enhancing safety and accessibility for over 87,000 locals and tourists.

The project spans 36.126 kilometers across key roads, including Osmeña Avenue and Roxas Avenue. 

Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista highlighted the potential of these developments to attract more tourists to Aklan and Boracay, thus boosting the local economy. 

The project supports not only tourism but also daily commutes, enabling residents to use the lanes for safer travel to work and other destinations. 

Bautista also emphasized the environmental and health benefits of biking, noting it reduces gasoline use and emissions.
