World Bank Backs Philippines in Tax Digitalization Drive — DOF

Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto has successfully garnered support from the World Bank during the WB-IMF Spring Meetings for the digitalization of tax administration in the Philippines, the Finance department said on Wednesday.

The move aims to boost efficiency as e-commerce grows, it said in a statement.

During the meeting between officials of the Philippine government and the multilateral lender, World Bank regional vice president Manuela Ferro highlighted the creation of a new team at the World Bank dedicated to digital solutions in fiscal areas and beyond, including education and health.

Recto also sought further assistance for wider digitalization across government bodies.

This collaboration is set to reflect in the new country partnership framework being developed for the Philippines, the department said.
