The company is providing high-speed connectivity ranging from 1 gigabit per second (Gbps) to 5 Gbps across meeting venues and strategic locations nationwide.
The partnership supports a series of high-level gatherings that will bring together thousands of foreign delegates, as well as Filipino government and business leaders, in multiple locations across the country.
Seamless access
“We are proud to showcase our world-class connectivity to thousands of foreign delegates and Filipino government and business leaders gathering across the country,” said Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy in a statement.
Uy added that the company is ensuring reliable internet service from arrival points to conference venues.
“From the airports to meeting venues, Converge is supporting the ASEAN meetings with gigabit connectivity. We will also provide uninterrupted, 5-gigabit speeds to the 48th ASEAN Summit, to be held in the newly opened Mactan Expo Center this May,” he said.
Digital backbone
Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda underscored the importance of strong digital infrastructure in hosting international events.
“Hosting the ASEAN Summit is a monumental undertaking that puts the eyes of the entire region on us, and seamless connectivity is the backbone of its success,” Aguda said.
He thanked Converge for its support, noting that its services ensured delegates remained connected throughout the meetings.
“Their commitment proves that through Digital Bayanihan, we can meet the highest international standards,” he added.
Nationwide coverage
Converge has so far powered up 11 sites across Metro Manila and Cebu. These include the Mactan Expo Center, as well as major hosting venues such as NuStar Integrated Hotel and Casino in Cebu, Diamond Hotel Manila, The Peninsula Manila, and Crimson Resort and Spa Boracay.
The importance of reliable connectivity has become more evident as the Philippines shifted about 650 preparatory meetings online amid a national fuel emergency. Despite this, the 48th ASEAN Summit will proceed as a face-to-face gathering of leaders from the bloc’s member states.
Network expansion
Uy said the company is continuing to strengthen its fiber network, particularly in Visayas and Mindanao, to support large-scale events and broader connectivity needs. “We plan to roll out more ports this year to increase service coverage, enabling us to serve expansive venues such as the Mactan Expo Center and key hotels in Cebu,” he said.
To ensure seamless connectivity upon arrival, Converge has also activated full 10 Gbps capacity across its access points in Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminals 1, 2, and 3.
