BPI expands VYBE e-wallet access through Paleng-QR Ph rollouts

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has expanded support for the Paleng-QR Ph program through its e-wallet, VYBE, in key locations— including Iloilo, Antique, and Metro Manila— as part of its push to accelerate digital financial inclusion nationwide.

A joint initiative by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Paleng-QR Ph aims to promote the use of QR Ph codes for secure and cashless payments in public markets and local transport.

By encouraging the shift to digital payments, the program empowers vendors, tricycle drivers, and micro-entrepreneurs with a safer, more efficient financial system.

As one of the Financial Services Providers (FSPs) equipped with QR Ph technology, VYBE actively participated in the rollout activities in Passi (Iloilo), San Jose de Buenavista (Antique), and Parañaque City. BPI’s team assisted with account onboarding and conducted financial literacy campaigns, helping residents embrace digital tools for everyday transactions.

In 2024, VYBE recorded 1.7 million users. It allows both BPI and non-BPI clients to scan and pay via QR Ph codes and offers free fund transfers to other e-wallets and banks—making cash-free transactions more accessible to more Filipinos.

By integrating digital banking into grassroots communities, BPI strengthens public-private collaboration with BSP, DILG, and local government units to boost financial literacy and trust. The initiative reflects the bank’s broader mission: to build a financially inclusive Philippines, one community at a time. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
