Ayala’s ACEN, Rockefeller Foundation see massive CO2 savings

The Ayala Group’s renewable energy arm ACEN Corp. and New York, United States-based The Rockefeller Foundation announced a pioneering pilot project in the Philippines that could prevent up to 19 million tons of CO2 emissions.

This project involves closing the South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp. coal plant a decade early and replacing it with sustainable power solutions and battery storage.

The initiative, under the Coal to Clean Credit Initiative, has determined its feasibility through carbon finance, setting a precedent for similar transitions globally.

By 2025, ACEN aims to secure financial agreements to finalize this groundbreaking coal-to-clean carbon credit transaction.
