  • M Lhuillier leans on Acer AI laptops to scale operations
  • CTOs frame speed and security as “moral imperatives”
  • Over 3,000 branches depend on seamless tech infrastructure
  • Hardware-level security seen as critical to financial services

M Lhuillier Financial Services is deepening its digital backbone as it scales nationwide operations, positioning enterprise-grade devices as critical infrastructure for financial inclusion.

Technology is no longer a back-office function for M Lhuillier—it underpins daily transactions that millions of Filipinos depend on, from remittances to loans and bill payments.

With over 3,000 branches, even minor system disruptions can ripple across livelihoods, highlighting the growing stakes of IT performance.

M Lhuillier is strengthening its digital backbone with Acer AI-powered devices—ensuring faster, more secure services for millions of Filipinos.

Why it matters

Paulo Quinto, one of M Lhuillier’s chief technology officers, said that system reliability directly affects real-world outcomes.

“If we are delayed, a student might not be able to pay tuition. If our records are inaccurate, a small business owner could go bankrupt,” he said in a press statement.

That framing elevates IT decisions beyond efficiency, turning them into business-critical—and socially consequential—priorities.

Between the lines

The company is deploying Acer TravelMate P6 14 AI laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra processors and Intel vPro, integrating hardware-level security and AI-enabled productivity tools into its workflows.

This reflects a broader shift among financial service providers toward endpoint resilience, especially as operations expand into digital platforms and more complex services.

What’s new

Hardware-based protections starting at the BIOS level allow earlier threat detection and remote system management, reducing downtime risks.

Paired with built-in support tools, IT teams can resolve issues faster while minimizing operational interruptions.

“Our responsibility is to ensure our technology ecosystem remains scalable, future-ready, and capable of supporting the business as it continues to grow and evolve,” said Clark James Aranas, chief technology officer of M Lhuillier.

Performance is equally critical as teams handle heavier workloads across development, IT, and marketing functions.

The devices’ multi-engine architecture—combining CPU, GPU, and NPU—enables smoother multitasking and collaboration, particularly in data-heavy environments.

The bottom line

As M Lhuillier evolves beyond its pawnshop roots into a broader financial services provider, its investment in secure, high-performance computing reflects a strategic bet: that reliable technology is essential not just for growth, but for maintaining trust across millions of daily financial interactions. —Vanessa Hidalgo |  Ed: Corrie S.
