The “Bone and Blood Caravan” offers same-day results for bone density and anemia tests, with partner doctors available on-site to explain findings and provide guidance.
The program is being rolled out in select Mercury Drug stores in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna.
Health risks
The initiative highlights the need to address women’s unique health risks, particularly osteoporosis and anemia, which studies show affect women more than men.
During the launch at Mercury Drug’s Trinoma branch in Quezon City, Dr. John Earl Conese discussed how proper nutrition and supplementation can help women maintain strong bones and healthy blood.
He also emphasized the importance of key nutrients for safe and healthy pregnancies.
Informed choices
Through the caravan, Unilab and Mercury Drug aim to help Filipino women make informed health decisions at different life stages.
“When women take charge of their health, they strengthen not only themselves but also their families and communities,” Mercury Drug vice president for merchandising Cora Lim said in a statement.
Unilab field operations manager Lhea Ancheta said the companies’ long-standing partnership allows them to bring “effective, science-backed solutions” to more women.
Product support
The initiative is supported by Unilab brands Calciumade and Hemarate.
Calciumade helps strengthen bones and prevent osteoporosis by combining calcium with Vitamin D to improve absorption.
Hemarate, meanwhile, helps prevent and treat iron-deficiency anemia, while Hemarate FA also contains folic acid to address folate deficiency.
Unilab customer team head Marlon Carpizo said the company aims to empower Filipino women to live healthier lives.
Caravan dates
The caravan will run from March 25 to March 29 across multiple locations, including Quezon City, Manila, Taguig, Makati, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna.
Sites include Araneta Center, Market Market in Taguig, and Rockwell Center in Makati, among others. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
