Smart Communications and Maya are warning the public about increasing ‘text hijacking’ scams that mimic trusted companies to steal personal information.

The companies warned customers they never send text messages with links asking for login credentials or personal details.

Scammers use fake cell sites and illegal software to send messages that appear to come from legitimate sources like Smart.

These messages often contain malicious links disguised as promotions or account updates.

Smart and Maya urge users to be cautious and report suspicious messages through their official platforms to stay protected.
