On July 30, the corporate watchdog ordered the revocation of Lucky South 99 Outsourcing’s incorporation and registration papers, effectively extinguishing its corporate existence.
It said Lucky South 99 Corp. was operating as a POGO without the necessary licenses, considered a major misrepresentation.
Police raid survivor
The SEC came to this conclusion after an “online investigation,” which revealed that Lucky South 99 was supposedly shut down as early as September 2022 following a raid by the Department of the Interior and Local Government and police authorities in Pampanga province.
Lucky South 99 resurfaced in the news years later following a crackdown in Porac in June. This led to ongoing Congressional hearings that uncovered, among other things, the potential involvement of former President Duterte’s spokesman, lawyer Harry Roque.
The SEC also pointed to Lucky South 99’s name appearing in a list of POGO companies as of Aug. 8 last year.
Name change
The SEC said the company first registered as an outsourcing company in 2019.
It revised its name to Lucky South 99 Corp. and its main business purpose to engage in gaming and entertainment on Feb. 7, 2024.
Show Cause Order
On July 8, 2024, the SEC issued an order to Lucky South 99 and its incorporators to explain its findings, but they did not respond.
They eventually determined that the company misled the public about its authorization to operate as a POGO.
