The new unit will develop sports facilities, leisure destinations and entertainment concepts while supporting grassroots sports programs that encourage healthier habits and youth development.
"Robinsons Sports and Leisure reflects how we see the next evolution of community-building," Robinsons Land president and chief executive officer Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio said in a statement.
"Filipinos need spaces where they can move, recharge, spend time with others, and build healthier routines. With RSL, we want to support experiences that fit into real life while encouraging discipline, confidence, and connection," she added.
Community focus
RSL builds on Robinsons Land's experience in developing residential, commercial, hospitality and mixed-use properties where people live, work, shop and gather.
The company said the new business unit will focus on creating venues and experiences that encourage recreation, fitness and leisure as part of everyday life.
One of its first major initiatives is the continued support for the Leyte Association of Organized Sports Football Club (LAOS FC), a grassroots football program that develops young athletes through structured training, competition and international exposure.
The partnership also strengthens Robinsons Land's long-standing presence in Leyte, particularly in Tacloban City, where the company operates malls and hotels serving residents and visitors.
Over the years, Robinsons Land has supported LAOS FC through funding for uniforms, training, travel, facilities, equipment and other operational requirements.
With the establishment of RSL, the company said this support becomes part of a broader effort to nurture Filipino talent and strengthen local communities through sports.
Global exposure
The company's backing will enable LAOS FC to send both boys' and girls' teams to the 2026 Norway Cup in Oslo, one of the world's largest international youth football tournaments.
The club will field two Under-19 teams, each composed of 16 players supported by a head coach, assistant coach, goalkeeping coach, physiotherapist and team doctor.
"Sports and leisure can play an important role in youth development because they build habits that stay with young people beyond competition," said Ramon Rivero, Robinsons Land chief strategist and business unit general manager of Robinsons Sports and Leisure.
"Our work with LAOS FC reflects the kind of initiatives we want RSL to support: efforts built with care, purpose, and a clear focus on giving young Filipinos access to training, competition, and experiences that help them grow on and off the field," he added.
Many of the athletes balance competitive football with their studies at institutions including Ateneo de Manila University, the University of Santo Tomas, Miriam College High School and the University of the East.
Future projects
Beyond supporting athletes, Robinsons Land is investing in sports infrastructure that complements its destination estates.
Among its flagship projects is the Helios Pickleball Center in Bridgetowne, Pasig City, an eight-story sports and lifestyle facility being developed with Kosmas Athletic Ventures Corp.
The project will feature tournament-grade pickleball courts, retail outlets and food and beverage spaces, creating a venue designed for both competitive play and community activities.
Robinsons Land said Robinsons Sports and Leisure will continue expanding sports, leisure and entertainment offerings that bring people together while creating opportunities for Filipino athletes and encouraging healthier, more active communities. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
