Pangilinan, who leads some of the country’s biggest companies such as PLDT Inc. and Metro Pacific Investments, celebrated Yulo’s historic double gold win during the Paris Olympics by posting on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Dreams are fulfilled in Paris, but they begin here. You’ve made us all proud, Caloy. You’re living proof a Filipino can. We never doubted for a second,” said Pangilinan, the chair emeritus of the MVP Sports Foundation (MVPSF).
The post included a picture of a 2,300 square-meter gym, a world-class training facility for gymnasts in Manila, unveiled by PLDT and Smart through the MVPSF and the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) in 2022.
PLDT, Smart, and the MVP Sports Foundation (MVPSF) have long supported Yulo’s Olympic goals.
Yulo first met Pangilinan in 2019 after winning gold at the Artistic World Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, becoming the first Filipino gymnast to achieve this feat.
However, the MVPSF had been supporting Yulo since 2017.
