PITX said it now serves an average of 180,000 passengers daily through 32 city routes and 80 provincial routes. The terminal has also facilitated 6.52 million vehicle departures as of June 2026, reflecting sustained demand for integrated public transportation connecting Metro Manila with key regional destinations.
Why it matters
The latest passenger figures highlight the growing role of integrated transport hubs in improving mobility while supporting tourism, trade, and economic activity across the Philippines. The expansion also strengthens Megawide Construction Corp.'s broader transport-oriented development strategy.
“These milestones demonstrate the growing confidence of commuters and transport operators in PITX as the country’s premier transport gateway,” PITX chief operating officer Mohit Malhi said.
“As passenger demand continues to grow, we remain committed to delivering a world-class transport experience while supporting the country’s goals of improving mobility, strengthening regional connectivity, and driving inclusive economic growth,” he added.
During the first half of the year, PITX opened three additional provincial routes serving Laoag in Ilocos Norte, Lagangilang in Abra, and Sta. Ana in Cagayan. The new services are expected to improve access to Northern Luzon for commuters, tourists, and businesses while supporting regional commerce and local economies.
The bigger picture
PITX said it has evolved into an integrated mobility hub that combines transportation services with retail, dining, and government services. It also connects passengers with city buses, provincial buses, modern jeepneys, and the LRT-1, creating a more seamless public transport network.
The terminal's performance also supports Megawide's push to develop transport-oriented projects beyond Metro Manila. The company is advancing similar integrated transport developments in Baguio and Carmona, Cavite, which are designed to improve regional accessibility while creating commercial and community spaces around transport infrastructure.
“PITX has shown that transport infrastructure can do more than move people efficiently—it can become a catalyst for investment, tourism, and inclusive growth,” Malhi said.
