The acquisition reflects the group’s strategy of expanding access to affordable higher education while strengthening its footprint in key urban centers where demand for college education remains strong.
Founded in 1946, Southeastern College became PHINMA Education’s 12th institution in the Philippines and the 14th across its regional network.
The addition further reinforces the group’s position as the largest private higher education network in Southeast Asia in terms of enrollment.
Why it matters
Metro Manila continues to see growing demand for accessible higher education, particularly among first-generation college students and working learners.
PHINMA Education’s model focuses on improving completion rates by pairing career-focused programs with academic and personal support designed to keep students in school.
The Pasay campus will become part of the PHINMA Saint Jude College network in the National Capital Region, joining PHINMA Saint Jude College campuses in Manila, Quezon City, and Dasmariñas in Cavite.
PHINMA Education said in a company statement that Southeastern College will adopt its approach to student success, combining effective teaching, career-relevant programs, and dedicated academic and personal coaching aimed at helping students stay in school and graduate.
“With every school we bring into our network, our focus is helping more Filipino students complete their education and move forward with better opportunities,” said PHINMA Education Philippines country head Happy Tan.
“Many of our students are the first in their families to go to college. We want them to know that college is possible—and once they begin their journey, we are committed to walking with them every step of the way.”
The big picture
PHINMA Education now serves about 178,000 students across the Philippines and Indonesia through a network that includes PHINMA Araullo University in Nueva Ecija; PHINMA University of Pangasinan in Dagupan and Urdaneta; PHINMA University of Iloilo; PHINMA Rizal College of Laguna in Calamba; PHINMA Union College of Laguna in Sta.
