Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) remain an important financial lifeline for households at home, increasing the need for remittance providers to make cross-border transfers accessible through both digital and physical channels.

Personal remittances from overseas Filipinos totaled $39.62 billion in 2025, according to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas data cited by Palawan Group.

Palawan Group of Companies has partnered with AltPayNet to strengthen access to international remittance infrastructure worldwide. Beneficiaries will be able to receive funds through the PalawanPay app or claim them at more than 3,800 Palawan Express Pera Padala branches nationwide.

Greater value

The arrangement combines AltPayNet’s international remittance capabilities with Palawan Group’s physical and digital network, giving recipients a choice between app-based and over-the-counter transactions.

“We have always believed that every partnership should create greater value, not only for the organizations involved, but more importantly, for the people we serve. Through our partnership with AltPayNet, we are expanding our ability to connect more Filipinos to the support of their loved ones overseas,” Palawan Group of Companies chief business development officer Lisa Castro-Sabado said in a press statement.

“Whether they are receiving money through PalawanPay or claiming it at any Palawan Express Pera Padala branch nationwide, our goal remains the same: to make remittance services more accessible, more convenient, and more reliable for every Filipino,” she added.

‘Bricktech’ strategy

Palawan for Business, headed by Missy Baldemor, will work with AltPayNet on implementing the international remittance services across Palawan’s network.

The partnership fits Palawan Group’s “bricktech” strategy, which combines physical locations with digital services. PalawanPay has 22 million users, according to the company.

Remittance ecosystem

The agreement adds another channel for overseas Filipinos to send financial support home while extending Palawan Group’s remittance ecosystem beyond domestic transactions.

The company said its broader network comprises more than 70,000 branches, Pera Padala outlets and PalawanPay Money Shops nationwide. Palawan Group operates under BSP supervision. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
