The project involves laying 4.8 kilometers of new sewer lines along NIA Avenue, Radial Road, and Sucat Avenue, which will service more than 35,000 residents in Barangays La Huerta and San Dionisio.
These sewer lines will carry wastewater to Maynilad’s Parañaque Water Reclamation Facility, where it will be treated to meet environmental standards before being discharged into the Kayboboy River
Scheduled for completion by Q3 2025, the project is led by Maynilad’s Wastewater Management head, Engr. Zmel Grabillo, who explained the complexities involved.
“New sewer lines must often go as deep as 14 meters underground, requiring precision engineering and careful excavation,” he noted.
To minimize community disruption, Maynilad is using trenchless technology, allowing pipe installation with minimal surface digging. “This technique reduces traffic congestion as we work through small insertion points,” Grabillo said.
Construction is restricted to 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., with all trenches safely covered by day for road accessibility.
In line with its long-term wastewater infrastructure expansion, Maynilad has allocated P19 billion from 2023 to 2027 to install 121 kilometers of sewer lines across its service areas, reinforcing its commitment to protect water bodies and enhance sanitation.
