The Gokongwei family conglomerate, JG Summit Holdings, announced on Thursday that it is proactively investigating reports of a potential data breach and is working closely with cybersecurity experts and partners.

“We are aware of circulating reports of a possible cybersecurity attack,” JG Summit said in a statement after the cybersecurity-focused Facebook page Deep Web Konek said the company was struck by a ransomware attack by RansomHub.

“We have activated all response protocols and implemented enhanced security measures to ensure data protection. Our business units continue to have normal operations,” JG Summit said.

“We take this matter very seriously. We recognize that many organizations have faced similar challenges in the current cybersecurity landscape. And, therefore, protecting our data and maintaining the trust of our stakeholders remain our top priority,” it added.

According to Deep Web Konek, the attack may have compromised as much as 300 gigabytes of data.
