Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Manila Electric Co.’s annual stockholders’ meeting, Pangilinan said they’re also open to waiving toll fees in parts of their sprawling road network.
“We also have [the NLEx Connector], maybe we should do the same. I have to talk to our toll road [team] to follow San Miguel’s lead,” he said on Tuesday, referring to their elevated expressway in Metro Manila.
The government is implementing new road measures as it kicks off the Pasay to Guadalupe repairs on June 16.
To help with congestion, SMC, which operates the Skyway elevated tolled network, is making portions of the expressway free for commuters.
Pangilinan and Ang, once business rivals now turned business partners, lauded the initiative.
“I think San Miguel has taken the lead there. It’s a good lead. I think we should follow their example to help out in the traffic situation for the next two years,” he said.
