A team of 16 Home Credit executives and employees volunteered on-site to rehabilitate Salvacion Elementary School in Caramoran, renovating four classrooms and essential facilities that will benefit 128 students and nine school personnel.
The work included roofing preparations, wall installation, repairs, and plastering of handwashing stations. The rehabilitation project is expected to be completed by July 2026, the company said in a release.
The big picture
The initiative aims to help students return to a safer learning environment after recurring typhoons, which often expose communities to health risks such as dengue and leptospirosis while disrupting classroom learning.
“Young students are our future leaders, and we deeply care for their well-being. By building safer, more supportive spaces, we are humbled to play a small part in improving their learning experience,” Home Credit Philippines senior executive vice president Jana Pechouckova said.
“It was incredibly rewarding to see our employees unite with such a profound spirit of volunteerism and community service as they actively participated in this initiative.”
Beyond rebuilding classrooms, Home Credit volunteers also conducted mental health awareness sessions to help support students affected by repeated disasters.
Why it matters
The collaboration underscores how partnerships between businesses and humanitarian organizations can strengthen disaster recovery by restoring school infrastructure while supporting the well-being of students in disaster-prone communities.
“The All Hands & Hearts team appreciates the efforts Home Credit Philippines has poured into this project. Without a socially responsible organization like Home Credit, rebuilding a community like this is not possible. We look forward to the long-term impact of this initiative enabling a brighter future for our students,” All Hands & Hearts program director Honey Araza said.
“These new facilities give our students a safe space where learning never pauses, even when the storm season arrives. We express our gratitude to Home Credit, All Hands & Hearts, Happy Hearts Czech, and all the partners and volunteers who made this possible,” Salvacion Elementary School principal Lorie A. Banta said. —Princess Daisy C. Ominga | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
