In a statement, the government pension fund said eligible applicants in Negros Oriental—affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon—and in Biliran, where the Biliran Bridge’s deterioration disrupted access to Leyte, may apply until March 12. Those from Carranglan and Licab in Nueva Ecija, which bore the brunt of Typhoon Kristine, have until March 13 to submit their applications.
Residents of Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands in Surigao del Norte, where prolonged brownouts caused major disruptions, may apply until March 18. In Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, which experienced torrential rains, the deadline is March 19, while those in Aborlan and Iwahig Penal Colony, also hit by heavy rains, can apply until March 23.
To facilitate applications, the GSIS Touch mobile app allows members and pensioners to file their requests anytime, anywhere, with no need for documentary requirements. The app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Eligibility criteria include:
Members with an existing emergency loan may borrow up to P40,000, with a P20,000 net amount after settling previous balances. Those without prior loans may apply for P20,000. Old-age and disability pensioners can also apply, provided at least 25 percent of their monthly pension remains after loan deductions.
The loan carries a 6 percent annual interest rate, a three-year repayment term, and includes redemption insurance, which settles the balance in case of the borrower’s death. Loan proceeds will be credited electronically to the borrower’s eCard or UMID card.
