Insider Spotlight
Celebrated every second Saturday of June, World Gin Day recognizes the history and versatility of gin.
In the Philippines, GSMI has helped shape the occasion into a broader platform for bringing communities together, having spearheaded the first World Gin Day celebration in the Asia-Pacific region in 2014 as part of the 180th anniversary of Ginebra San Miguel.
Since then, the annual celebration has evolved from a one-day event into a month-long campaign aimed at strengthening the company's Kabarangay spirit of community while showcasing different ways consumers can enjoy gin.
Community impact
This year's World Gin Day celebration will also support community development efforts through the San Miguel Foundation, with part of the proceeds from Ginuman X events earmarked for the foundation's programs.
"What makes the World Gin Day 2026 celebration even more meaningful is that part of the proceeds from sales during Ginuman X will help support the community programs of the San Miguel Foundation," GSMI group product manager Paolo Jose Tupaz said. "This is a World Gin Day celebration with a cause."
The initiative reflects GSMI's efforts to expand the annual celebration beyond consumer experiences by incorporating programs that contribute to broader social impact.
Investing in future bartenders
As part of this year's activities, GSMI will host an influencer event at the Ginebra San Miguel Bar Academy within TESDA, highlighting a training program that equips aspiring bartenders and hospitality professionals with practical skills and industry exposure.
Established in 2014, the academy supports skills development in the food and beverage industry through training in cocktail creation, responsible service, and modern bartending techniques.
The program has produced hundreds of graduates, some of whom have secured employment as cruise ship bartenders and hospitality professionals in Europe and the United States.
Participants will also get a preview of TESDA's bartending micro-credential course, which offers short, modular, and stackable programs designed to certify in-demand industry skills.
Going nationwide
GSMI is also introducing "Ginuman X," a new event format designed to bring World Gin Day celebrations closer to consumers across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
"X stands for eXperience, eXtraordinary, and eXciting," Tupaz said. "Ginuman X is the new Ginumanfest format that features fresh entertainment, more interactive activities, and a dynamic program designed to create memorable experiences for everyone."
Attendees can expect live performances, fireworks displays, cocktail-mixing tutorials, raffle prizes, exclusive merchandise, and other interactive activities.
The Ginuman X series will begin on June 24 at the RSA Sports Complex in Balayan, Batangas featuring Banda Ni Kleggy, 6cyclemind, BDCIT, and Erik Villanueva.
Simultaneous celebrations will follow on June 27 at the Robinsons Antipolo parking lot featuring P.O.T., Because, Allmo$t, and Al James, and at Pueblo de Oro in Cagayan de Oro featuring Oh! Caraga, Chocolate Factory, and Cookie$. A Visayas leg is scheduled on June 26 in Talisay City, Cebu.
Premium gin experiences
Over the years, GSMI has expanded its World Gin Day activities through initiatives such as the One Ginebra Nation Tour, the launch of Gin Is In, and last year's Your World of Gin Experience.
"These initiatives have helped elevate gin appreciation beyond traditional consumption, highlighting its craftsmanship, versatility, and role in creating memorable moments among family and friends," GSMI marketing manager Ron Molina said.
To kick off the month-long celebration, GSMI will offer curated cocktail experiences featuring 1834 Premium Distilled Gin and Archangel Reserve Premium Dry Gin at selected Metro Manila establishments, including Monarch Manila Bar and Treehouse Bar in Makati, Bar Flora and After Hours Bar in Quezon City, Somewhere Quiet Bar in Taguig, Modern Fox Bar in Pasig, and Sa'min Bar & Community Space, Kauri Taproom, Eraya PH Bar, and Raion Bar in San Juan.
Beyond the festivities, GSMI continues to promote responsible alcohol consumption through its "Gin Responsibly" campaign, which encourages moderation, respect, and accountability.
"World Gin Day has evolved into more than a celebration of gin. It is a celebration of the connections we build, the communities we strengthen, and the memorable moments we create together," Molina said. —Princess Daisy C. Ominga| Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
