Insider Spotlight
Epson is betting that faster scanning, automated document handling and a compact footprint can help offices close that gap.
What’s happening
Epson has introduced the WorkForce DS-530III, an A4 duplex sheet-fed color scanner aimed at performance-driven office environments. The device measures 296 x 169 x 176 millimeters and can scan at speeds of up to 40 pages per minute or 80 images per minute.
Its automatic feeding mode supports continuous batch scanning, including documents of different sizes, into a single digital file. One-pass duplex scanning captures both sides simultaneously, while the scanner supports a daily workload of up to 6,500 pages.
Why it matters
Reliability can be as important as raw scanning speed for organizations processing mixed documents. Epson equipped the model with paper protection and double feed detection skip technology, designed to detect abnormal feeds while accommodating documents with staples, folds or stickers.
Glass dirt detection alerts users when cleaning may be required, while ultrasonic and length detection help identify overlapping pages and long documents.

The scanner can be connected to an Epson Perfection V39II flatbed photo scanner through an optional dock, extending its use to books, receipts and fragile documents.
Epson Scan 2 provides text enhancement, skew correction and color optimization, while optical character recognition can create searchable, password-protected PDFs. Document Capture Pro can recognize barcodes and blank pages, organize files and support up to 30 customized scan settings.
“As organizations deepen their digital transformation and document management processes, they need scanning solutions that combine speed, performance, reliability, and flexibility,” Epson Philippines Corporation head of marketing and customer service Noelle Gonzalez said in a press statement.
The bigger picture
