The launch, announced by Canva co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins on Oct. 31, represents the culmination of more than a decade of innovation and aims to empower users in what she calls the “Imagination Era.”
“We’re incredibly excited to unveil our biggest launch yet with the all-in-one Creative Operating System,” said Perkins. “From major upgrades to our Visual Suite to powerful new AI tools, we can’t wait to see how people bring their ideas to life.”
Canva now serves over 260 million monthly active users worldwide, generates $3.5 billion in annualized revenue, and powers visual communication for 95% of the Fortune 500, including brands like LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Stripe.
Supercharged visual suite
At the heart of the new Creative OS is a completely reimagined Visual Suite, built to expand what’s possible across every creative format—from video and email to code and forms.
Among the highlights is Video 2.0, a new video editor that merges professional-grade tools with Canva’s trademark simplicity. Users can generate videos from a single prompt using Magic Video, while AI tools automate editing, trimming, and effects.
The update also introduces Email Design, one of Canva’s most requested products. This feature allows marketing teams to design and export fully branded HTML emails without leaving the platform.
Another innovation, Forms, enables users to create on-brand surveys, feedback tools, and RSVP forms that integrate directly with Canva Sheets—keeping all responses organized in one place.
Meanwhile, Canva Code connects seamlessly with Canva Sheets, enabling creators to build interactive, data-powered widgets like dashboards and calculators that update automatically.
Canva Design Model
Canva’s Creative OS is powered by what it calls the Canva Design Model—the world’s first AI trained specifically to understand design principles such as layout, proportion, and style.
This AI layer sits across the platform, providing users with a seamless creative experience. Features like “Ask @Canva” offer real-time assistance, generating feedback, smart edits, and copy suggestions without disrupting workflow.
AI can now generate or refine every element—from photos and textures to 3D graphics—while maintaining consistent branding through advanced style-matching technology.
Powerful tools for brands and marketers
Canva’s evolution goes beyond design, introducing a suite of marketing and branding tools under the Canva Grow platform. This new end-to-end marketing hub allows users to create, publish, and track campaigns across platforms like Meta, while AI-driven analytics help teams refine performance in real time.
The new Brand System embeds fonts, colors, and templates directly into the editor, ensuring brand consistency across all teams and regions.
Meanwhile, Canva Business, a new subscription tier, bridges the gap between Pro and Enterprise users by offering enhanced AI capabilities, analytics, and collaboration tools for small teams and marketers.
All-new affinity: Professional tools, now free
Capping off its biggest product evolution, Canva also announced the relaunch of Affinity, now fully integrated with Canva and completely free, forever.
The all-new Affinity brings professional design tools—vector editing, photo manipulation, and advanced layouts—into a single ecosystem with Canva. This integration allows users to create professional-grade assets in Affinity and seamlessly publish or collaborate within Canva’s Creative OS.
By removing the barriers between professional and everyday design, Canva continues its mission to democratize creativity for everyone. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
