Insider Spotlight
BPI’s financial inclusion thrust is anchored on BPI On-The-Move, a mobile banking platform designed to bring essential services directly to local communities, removing traditional barriers to entry such as distance, documentation challenges, and limited access to branches.
What’s happening
The initiative officially launched its sustainably made, fully equipped mobile banking bus in Naga City, Camarines Sur on Jan. 26.
The dedicated unit serves as a one-stop hub where residents and small business owners can open digital and regular savings accounts, register for BPI’s VYBE e-wallet, and apply for cards, insurance, and loan products on-site.
“Our BPI On-The-Move bus is a one-stop shop for all these needs. We’ve simplified the processes and lowered the barriers so that you can begin your financial journey with total confidence,” said Maria Cristina “Ginbee” Go, head of consumer banking, BPI.
Why it matters
Despite improvements in digital adoption, a significant portion of Filipinos remain either underserved by banks or entirely unbanked.
Programs like BPI On-The-Move aim to bridge this gap by embedding banking services into everyday community settings, aligning with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ broader financial inclusion framework.
Behind the rollout
Alongside the mobile banking services, BPI, through its microfinance arm BanKo, is conducting financial wellness sessions for Naga City local government unit employees.
These sessions focus on practical money management tools and financial literacy, reinforcing the bank’s community-based approach. The details of the Naga City activation were outlined in a recent company release.
Local partnerships
BPI executives joined Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and local officials during the launch, underscoring the role of local governments in advancing inclusive growth.
“I would like to extend a very special thank you to Mayor Leni Robredo, our esteemed LGU officials, and the hardworking employees of the Naga City government. You are at the front lines of community service, and we recognize that your leadership is the key to our shared aspiration: making lives better through genuine economic progress,” Go said.
What’s next
For 2026, BPI plans to expand BPI On-The-Move to more cities and municipalities, strengthening partnerships with LGUs and scaling targeted financial education and on-ground engagement nationwide.
“Ultimately, everything we do is driven by BPI’s vision of Building a Better Philippines, one family and one community at a time,” Go added. — Princess Daisy C. Ominga | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
