In a strategic partnership formalized on March 21, 2025, top executives from BPI and the Araneta Group came together to promote QR Ph-enabled payments across popular restaurants and entertainment hubs.
From restaurants to parking spaces
Under this collaboration, BPI OneQR is now available at Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, and several other locations in Araneta City, including parking spaces, Snaxx snack bars, and the upscale World Kitchens at Gateway Mall 2.
In a statement, BPI head of agency banking Rally Jareza said: “Our partnership with the Araneta Group aligns with our vision to accelerate digital payment adoption in the Philippines. By enabling BPI OneQR across the Araneta Group of Companies, we are enhancing the payment experience for both consumers and merchants—making transactions faster, safer, and more convenient.”
BPI OneQR allows customers to make payments with ease by scanning a single QR code that is accepted by any QR Ph-compliant bank app or e-wallet. This universal QR solution supports the BSP’s initiative to standardize digital payment systems and reduce reliance on cash-based transactions.
Enhancing customer experience
The Araneta Group, known for pioneering developments in retail, dining, and entertainment, views this move as an essential response to the evolving habits of Filipino consumers.
“This partnership with BPI reflects our commitment to enhancing the customer experience by offering solutions that adapt to changing consumer needs,” said Irene Jose, COO of Uniprom Inc., the entertainment arm of the Araneta Group.
“We aim for this to set a new standard for digital payment systems while further reinforcing BPI’s leadership in financial innovation,” Jose added.
Expansion plans
Looking ahead, BPI and Araneta Group plan to extend the QR solution to Ticketnet outlets and Gateway Cineplex 18, enabling smoother transactions for cinema-goers and concert enthusiasts.
This partnership demonstrates the growing momentum for cashless convenience, reinforcing both institutions’ commitment to smart cities, digital finance, and consumer-centric innovation in the Philippines. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
