BDO Unibank on Monday said it has concluded its investigation into the viral passbook incident reported by a certain Gleen Cañete, confirming that all online withdrawals were valid and authorized by the account holder.

Cañete, who had previously expressed distress over the disappearance of P350,000 from his account, has informed the bank that the issue will be resolved within his family, BDO said in a statement sent to InsiderPH.

The incident, which garnered significant attention on social media, highlighted concerns about account security.

BDO emphasized its commitment to client security and urged customers to maintain the privacy of their account information to prevent unauthorized transactions.

In a now deleted video posted online, the alleged victim said P350,000 — meant for his child school tuition — went missing from his bank account. After conferring with BDO, the withdrawals made online were found to be valid. (Photo from Facebook)

The situation underscores the importance of robust security measures in banking, particularly as online banking becomes more prevalent.

BDO reassures its clients that it continually monitors and enhances its security protocols to protect their funds and personal information.
