Insider Spotlight
Based on Nielsen-GfK data covering the first five months of 2026, Acer captured a 37-percent share of the consumer laptop market and a 34.5-percent share of the gaming laptop segment, reinforcing its dominance across both categories.
The company said the latest figures build on its record performance in 2025, when it achieved an all-time high 37.3 percent share of the consumer laptop market.
Why it matters
The latest performance underscores Acer’s continued strength in one of Southeast Asia’s competitive PC markets, where consumer demand has increasingly shifted toward gaming devices, hybrid work solutions, and education-focused computing.
The company’s 20-year leadership, covering 2006 through 2025, was previously validated by the IDC Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, while the latest Nielsen-GfK figures indicate the momentum has carried into 2026.
“These achievements are deeply meaningful to us as we celebrate Acer’s 50th anniversary,” Acer Philippines managing director Sue Ong-Lim said in a press statement.
“They reflect our strong commitment to our mission of breaking barriers between people and technology, one that has guided our innovations for five decades,” she added.
Beyond hardware
Acer attributed its sustained performance not only to its laptop portfolio but also to investments in retail distribution, after-sales service, and consumer engagement initiatives.
Among its flagship programs are Acer Day, now in its 10th year, which promotes technology and lifestyle experiences, and the Asia Pacific Predator League, now entering its eighth year as a regional esports tournament aimed at developing gaming talent.
The company has also expanded its education initiatives through the Acer Edu Summit, which convenes policymakers, educators, and technology leaders to discuss artificial intelligence and human-centered innovation in learning.
As Acer celebrates 50 years since its founding in 1976, the company said it remains focused on innovation, reliability, sustainability, and expanding technology access across its global markets, including the Philippines. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
