The Trilateral Commission is a global organization that for decades has brought together senior policymakers, business leaders, and representatives of academe to discuss and propose solutions to some of the world’s most complex issues.
The Manila gathering, jointly facilitated by the Philippine group and Ayala Corp., addressed pressing issues such as climate change, energy policy, foreign relations, AI innovations, and technology competition, Ayala Corp. said in a statement.
As a member of the commission's Asia-Pacific Group, the Philippines was represented by three prominent figures: Ayala Corp. president and CEO Cezar Consing, Philippine Veterans Bank chair Roberto de Ocampo, and Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy president Amina Rasul-Bernardo.
A highlight of the conference was a dinner hosted at the Ayala Museum, graced by dignitaries including former Philippine Prime Minister Cesar Virata, the first Filipino member of the commission.
Ayala Corp. chair Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, in his welcome remarks, emphasized the significance of global cooperation in driving economic growth.
"Global cooperation has encouraged the free movement of capital, goods, and people, which has been net positive for our country," Zobel stated, acknowledging the Philippines' benefits from international collaboration since World War II.
