In partnership with Kids for Kids PH and the Positive Youth Development Network (PYDN), the book introduces Tala, a character who explores the metaverse to learn about her rights and the importance of protecting them while navigating online dangers.
The storybook includes activities to help children develop cybersecurity awareness, identify online threats like cyberbullying and harmful content and adopt safe digital habits.
Guiding parents, guardians
“PLDT and Smart believe that child protection, especially in the digital age, begins at home,” said Stephanie V. Orlino, assistant vice president and head of stakeholder management at PLDT and Smart.
“The storybook offers an opportunity for parents and guardians to sit with children and talk about internet safety so they can #BeCyberSmart and protect themselves from threats on the internet and in the physical world,” she added.
National Children’s Month
The book promotes kindness, responsibility, and respect to help children become responsible digital citizens.
Launched during National Children’s Month, it supports the DOJ’s fight against human trafficking and child abuse while aligning with PLDT and Smart’s #BeCyberSmart program for internet safety and media literacy.
PLDT’s #BeCyberSmart initiative works with schools, businesses, and communities to spread awareness about online threats and practical cybersecurity tips.
Collaborating with the DOJ, DepEd, and groups like Kids for Kids PH and PYDN, the program aims to create safer digital spaces for children. Through these efforts, PLDT and Smart reinforce their commitment to ending abuse and violence against children, supporting UNSDG No. 16 for inclusive and peaceful societies.
