Insider Spotlight
The company earned an Award of Excellence for the LGBTQIA+ event “Mothers are Mothering!” and an Award of Merit for the Women’s Month program “Tama Na, 2024 Na!”, both recognized under the Special and Experiential Events category for their creative and meaningful engagement.
“These awards reflect the impact of telling stories that celebrate diversity and bring people together, and affirm how communication can create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and empowered,” said Pia Gajasan, communications senior manager for Asia-Pacific.
Safe spaces backed by survey
An internal survey underscored the events’ relevance. It found that 46 percent of women employees had been asked uncomfortable questions about their relationships, while 67 percent reported scrutiny over appearance, largely from friends and relatives. Crucially, workplace leaders (4 percent) and teammates (11 percent) were the least likely to make such remarks—making the company’s offices the safest spaces from unwanted comments.
Empowering women, championing LGBTQIA+ Allyship
The “Tama Na, 2024 Na!” panel discussion urged women to reclaim their narratives and define success on their own terms.
Meanwhile, “Mothers are Mothering!” marked the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, featuring drag performances and a three-generation panel on love, identity, and acceptance.
Together, these programs illustrate TELUS Digital Philippines’ broader DEI ecosystem, with employee resource groups like Spectrum, Connections, and Mosaic sustaining year-round inclusion. These initiatives show how workplace culture can evolve into a true safe space—where diversity and empowerment are more than policy, but daily practice. —Ed: Vanessa Hidalgo
