Salesforce is addressing this gap with Slack Frontline, a mobile-first workplace platform designed for employees in retail, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality and field services.
Frontline employees account for approximately 80 percent of the global workforce, according to Salesforce. However, many continue relying on paper checklists, messaging applications and manual processes despite broader corporate digital transformation.
The platform aims to connect these workers with company data, artificial intelligence (AI) tools and automated workflows without requiring traditional office infrastructure.
Role-specific communication channels
Slack Frontline provides employees with up to 10 role-specific communication channels, instant Huddles with headquarters and AI agents capable of answering operational questions.
Workers can access shift schedules, safety procedures, training materials and company announcements through mobile devices.
The platform also integrates Salesforce data and Agentforce capabilities, allowing employees to retrieve relevant information while maintaining access restrictions.
Improve coordination across industries
Salesforce expects the technology to improve coordination across industries where employees frequently work outside conventional office environments.
Retail associates can access inventory information and customer preferences, while healthcare workers can coordinate patient visits and retrieve authorized medical records.
Manufacturing employees can report equipment problems, initiate maintenance requests and document shift handovers.
For hospitality operators, the platform could help accelerate responses to customer complaints and service requests.
One place to connect
“As companies pursue agentic transformation, frontline work matters more than ever. They're the people customers actually see, the ones keeping operations running and doing the work AI cannot replace. With Slack Frontline, the entire workforce, from headquarters to the floor, finally has one place to connect and do their best work.” Slack chief product officer Jaime DeLanghe said in a press statement.
Slack Frontline is available as an add-on for businesses subscribed to Slack Enterprise+. Salesforce said availability may vary by region, while pricing and packaging remain subject to change. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
