The global workforce has undergone transformative changes in recent years, reshaping priorities, work preferences, and employment deal-breakers.

Today’s job seekers and employees prioritize factors such as work-life balance, career growth, company culture, and flexibility over traditional salary and benefits when choosing to join or remain with an organization, Jobstreet by SEEK said in a statement.

As businesses enter a new year, the dual challenge of attracting top talent and retaining high-performing employees grows increasingly complex. Recognizing this evolving landscape, leading online job platform JobStreet by SEEK is equipping Filipino employers with tools and insights to adapt to these changes, helping them strengthen engagement and foster long-term success.

Skill building: A priority for Filipino talent

According to JobStreet by SEEK’s Decoding Global Talent Report: GenAI Edition, 40 percent of Filipino employees dedicate time to learning new skills at least weekly, demonstrating a strong learning culture. Employers can tap into this by offering personalized upskilling opportunities in areas such as analytical skills, creativity, project management, and job-specific competencies.

Preferred learning methods include videos, online tutorials, workshops, and seminars. By aligning with these preferences, businesses can motivate their workforce, enhance productivity, and build loyalty.

Stability and flexibility: Key to retention

The report revealed that 67 percent of Filipino talent prioritize stable jobs with good work-life balance. Flexibility in work arrangements, such as hybrid or remote setups, also ranks high among employee preferences.

Traditional five-day workweeks remain popular, but there is growing interest in exploring multiple full-time roles for added security. Filipino candidates seek companies that provide clear career growth opportunities, with the potential to rise into leadership positions.

Fulfillment at work: The new imperative

Employees who derive satisfaction from their work are 49 percent less likely to consider leaving.

Beyond compensation, factors such as meaningful relationships, mental health support, and the opportunity to work for impactful organizations drive retention.

Initiatives like cross-cultural training, stress management programs, and psychological safety resources help foster a supportive workplace.

Engaged, motivated and future-ready

Joey Yusingco, head of marketing at JobStreet by SEEK Philippines, emphasizes, "The Filipino workforce's dedication to learning is a tremendous asset that drives innovation and long-term success."

“Moreover, the commitment to growth and adaptability is essential for retaining talent and equipping individuals to adjust and thrive in an ever-changing work environment,” Yusingco added.
