Tycoon Enrique Razon Jr.’s terminal in Iraq, Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT), has boosted trade connectivity with the launch of the RCL West India-Gulf (RWG) service by Regional Container Line (RCL) and Bengal Tiger Line (BTL).

Located at the Port of Umm Qasr, BGT now links Iraq to key ports in India and the Middle East, including Mundra, Nhava Sheva, and Jebel Ali, with a 21-day turnaround enabling faster and more efficient shipping.

With three vessels operating on the route, the service ensures reliable trade links to support Iraq’s growing economy.

The move reinforces BGT’s reputation as Iraq’s most advanced terminal.

Operated by International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), BGT combines cutting-edge infrastructure with a strategic location, positioning it as a crucial gateway to emerging markets for global businesses.

Management’s view

“We are excited to welcome RCL and BTL as partners in advancing trade and connectivity in the region,” said Romeo Salvador, BGT CEO.

The RWG service reinforces our commitment to providing world-class service and supporting Iraq’s role in the global trade network,” he added.
