This highlights AGCT’s importance as Croatia’s biggest seaport and a crucial hub for the Balkans and Central Europe.
Management’s view
“We are pleased with the teamwork and efforts of our staff to achieve this new milestone. I am sure we will have a few more ahead. The result is even more pleasing given that we had been down to single berth operation with the 100-meter deepening project,” Emmanuel Papagiannakis, AGCT chief executive officer, said in a statement.
“We now see a return to two berth operations as the project is completed in October, improving the terminal’s service levels,” he added.
Record volume
The terminal also broke its single vessel exchange record, handling 7,120 TEUs on the Maersk Huacho.
This vessel is part of the 2M Alliance, a partnership between Maersk and Mediterranean Shipping Company, linking China and other far east ports to the Adriatic.
In the same month, AGCT set a new record for the Ocean Alliance, processing 3,193 twenty foot equivalent units from a coalition of CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen, and OOCL.
