Insider Spotlight

  • Pru Life UK has launched the PRULink Strategic Income Fund to help Filipino investors diversify beyond local markets.
  • The fund uses a multi-asset, multi-manager approach aimed at delivering steadier returns while managing risk.
  • It will be available in Philippine peso and US dollar denominations under an investment-linked insurance product.

Pru Life UK is betting that market volatility will push more Filipinos to seek globally diversified investment options, launching a new fund designed to balance income generation, risk management, and long-term growth.

The newly introduced PRULink Strategic Income Fund is structured as a global multi-asset, multi-manager fund-of-funds under an investment-linked insurance product.

The fund gives investors access to a broader mix of securities across regions, sectors and asset classes without requiring them to manage multiple overseas funds on their own.

Why it matters

The launch comes as investors reassess concentration risk in portfolios tied too closely to a single market or asset class.

As global markets face uneven growth and interest-rate uncertainty, diversified income strategies are drawing more attention from savers seeking stability without giving up upside.

Pru Life UK is positioning the fund as a solution for investors who want to grow their money while cushioning against sharp market swings. The company said the fund will be managed under Pru Life's oversight while drawing on the expertise of leading global investment managers.

What they’re saying

“For years, many investors relied on the expectation that a single market or asset class would deliver the returns they needed. Those days are done,”  Princess Balingit, chief investment officer of Pru Life UK, said during the media launch.

“Global diversification is no longer just a recommendation—it is essential for building a resilient portfolio that can weather different market cycles,” she said.

'Three-fund machine'

A key differentiator of the fund is its partnership with three leading global asset managers—Allianz, Amundi, and BlackRock—whose combined assets under management reach about  $17 trillion.

These partners were carefully selected to deliver complementary strategies that, when combined, address investors' diverse needs.

Pru Life UK is at the center of this structure, actively managing allocations among the three funds. This “three-fund machine” enables dynamic decision-making, ensuring investments continuously align with market conditions.

“PRULink Strategic Income Fund is ideal for those looking to move beyond locally concentrated portfolios toward a more balanced, globally diversified approach. It gives investors the growth potential of global markets with the reassurance of expert management guiding every decision,” Balingit added.

Simplify investing

The Strategic Income Fund is designed to simplify investing. Instead of requiring clients to monitor markets and rebalance portfolios themselves, Pru Life UK will handle fund selection and switching, asset allocation adjustments and ongoing market analysis.

The fund also employs disciplined allocation ranges as a form of risk management, balancing flexibility with clear investment boundaries.

The bottom line

Ultimately, the Strategic Income Fund aims to democratize sophisticated investment strategies. By combining global expertise, diversified income sources and active risk management, it delivers what was traditionally available only to institutional investors.

As Pru Life UK continues to evolve its offerings, the fund reflects its commitment to responsible investing, disciplined strategy and risk-adjusted returns—helping Filipino investors navigate uncertainty with greater confidence.  —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
