Cebu biz groups split over proposed port, cargo-handling rate hikes

CEBU CITY—Two business chambers in Cebu are divided over a request by the Port of Cebu Association of Cargo Handling Operators Inc. (PCACHOI) to raise domestic cargo-handling tariffs by 25 percent.

Gov’t eyes rice import freeze extension, tariff hike

The government is moving to tighten the country’s rice import policy by extending the current two-month import suspension and raising tariffs on imported rice, in a bid to stabilize palay prices and protect Filipino farmers during the peak of the harvest season.
