The event comes amid a surge in job applications, with Jobstreet by SEEK recording a 179-percent year-on-year increase in applications per post.
The company noted that 75 percent of resumes are rejected before they even reach hiring managers, while hirers often decide within the first 90 seconds of an interview whether to proceed with a candidate.
Boosting employability
In partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the workshop gathered over a hundred candidates eager to improve their employability.
Participants received guidance on how to craft stronger resumes, highlight key details, and use action words to effectively showcase their skills.
They also learned interview best practices—from researching companies and delivering confident responses to applying effective non-verbal communication.
The program featured mock interviews, resume clinics, and a style guide session led by SEEK volunteers.
Skills for the digital economy
“At Jobstreet by SEEK, we have seen how technical and vocational skills are becoming increasingly valuable in today’s digital economy,” said Dannah Majarocon, managing director of Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines.
“Through initiatives like ‘Ready, Set, Hired,’ we hope to empower more young professionals with the skills and confidence they need to succeed.”
Closing the talent gap
The initiative is part of Jobstreet by SEEK’s broader mission to close regional talent gaps and support TESDA’s efforts to strengthen workforce readiness.
By empowering youth with the tools to succeed in applications and interviews, the platform aims to connect emerging professionals with meaningful career opportunities. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
