What began in 2004 as a simple SMS-based money transfer service has now evolved into a comprehensive financial super app relied upon by millions of Filipinos for their everyday financial needs.
From instant money transfers to bill payments, shopping, and even investing, GCash has made managing finances more convenient, inclusive, and accessible.
GCash’s journey started with the introduction of SMS money transfers, revolutionizing the way Filipinos sent and received funds.
By 2012, the platform had expanded to include essential features like Buy Load and Pay Bills, allowing users to top up mobile credits and settle payments without leaving their homes. The innovation continued in 2017 with the launch of the Scan-to-Pay QR feature, which played a key role in promoting cashless transactions across the country.
In 2018, GCash broke new ground with services like GCredit for instant loans and GSave, which brought banking services to the fingertips of everyday Filipinos. The following year, GForest was launched, encouraging users to take environmental action by reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to the planting of millions of trees.
Over the past five years, GCash introduced even more transformative features, such as GInvest (now GFunds), making investing more accessible; GGives and GLoan, offering flexible financing solutions; and GInsure, providing affordable insurance coverage. The app also embraced global payments with Global Pay and enabled easy access to the stock market through GStocks PH.
Pushing the boundaries further, GCash introduced GCrypto for digital currency trading and the GCash Visa Card, bridging digital and real-world payments.
In 2023, the platform launched innovative services like Send Money Protect, a cyber insurance feature in partnership with Chubb, and GCash Overseas, enabling overseas Filipino workers and migrants to use GCash even with a non-Philippine SIM card.
After two decades and 20 game-changing features, GCash remains committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation, staying true to its mission of making financial services accessible to every Filipino.
