Mobile payments giant GCash assured users that no funds were lost and the company quickly restored affected accounts amid a technical issue that led some some customers to report unauthorized deductions.

“It was a reconciliation issue. Some wallets were debited inadvertently,” Ernest Cu, chair of GCash operator Mynt, said during Globe Telecom’s financial briefing on Monday.

“[W]hatever errors occurred, they were rectified very quickly. No consumer lost any funds,” Cu explained.

“The accounts were restored within 24 hours and corrections were indeed made to the process that will ensure that this doesn’t happen again,” he added.
