The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and 32 other Filipino Chinese business and civic organizations have collectively called for a diplomatic resolution to the West Philippine Sea confrontation with China.

In a public statement released on Tuesday, the groups expressed their support for President Marcos' approach to resolving the dispute through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.

“May we respectfully put forth the establishment of a neutral and diplomatic venue for discussion that will uphold mutual respect for one another,” the groups said. “In this way, we protect the sovereignty of both nations and maintain cordial relations across the Asian region.”

The business groups emphasized the importance of safeguarding peace and stability in the region, highlighting the long-standing friendly relations and substantial economic partnerships between the Philippines and China.

They urged both governments to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions and instead seek a neutral, diplomatic venue for discussions.

The groups’ position stands in contrast to a recent statement released by 17 business organizations last week calling on the government to strengthen the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Coast Guard in response to last week’s escalation in the maritime standoff with China.
