DITO invests P50M to boost internet connectivity at Clark International Airport

DITO Telecommunity has committed P50 million to enhance internet connectivity at Clark International Airport over the next two years in partnership with Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corporation.

In a statement, DITO said it also launched high-speed Wi-Fi services, aiming to elevate the digital experience for millions of travelers passing through this regional hub.

Clark International Airport, with nearly one million passengers in the first half of 2024 alone, now benefits from DITO’s robust 5G infrastructure, providing fast, seamless, and secure Wi-Fi access for domestic and international passengers.

DITO CEO Eric Alberto highlighted the initiative as part of the company’s mission to bridge the digital divide and support tourism and economic growth in the Philippines.

“This partnership with Clark International Airport symbolizes our shared commitment to innovation and excellence, showcasing what we can achieve when we unite our strengths,” Alberto said during the ceremonial turnover of DITO’s Wi-Fi services on November 7.

Beyond free Wi-Fi, DITO has deployed working tables, charging stations, and SIM card vending machines throughout the airport. The working tables allow passengers to charge their devices and work comfortably before flights, while the vending machines offer convenient access to DITO SIM cards, ensuring reliable connectivity for travelers as they arrive.

A live speed test at the launch event demonstrated internet speeds approaching 150 Mbps, underscoring DITO’s position as the fastest mobile network in the Philippines, according to Ookla’s Speedtest Intelligence for 2024.

As Clark International Airport continues to recover from the pandemic and anticipates reaching two million passengers by year-end, DITO’s connectivity boost aligns with the airport’s vision to become a world-class air gateway, the company said.

This project marks DITO’s ongoing commitment to empowering Filipinos and enhancing the travel experience with accessible, high-speed connectivity.

Through this investment, DITO aims to support the Philippine tourism industry and contribute to the nation’s economic progress, reinforcing its role as a key player in the country’s telecommunications landscape, it added.
