The payment app allows users to transfer money to BDO accounts, other banks and e-wallets without fees, while also offering zero-fee payments to more than 2,200 billers.
Holiday spending
With the start of the “ber” months bringing increased spending on gifts, gatherings and other holiday expenses, BDO Pay said consumers can use its app for purchases, bills and money transfers without paying additional transaction charges.
Users can scan any QRPh code and pay directly from a BDO account or debit card. BDO credit cardholders can also use Scan to Pay through a BDO Pay point-of-sale terminal.
The app's Send Money feature allows users to transfer funds using an account number, QR code or mobile number. This can also be used to send cash gifts or split expenses among family and friends.
Paying bills
BDO Pay said users can settle payments to more than 2,200 billers covering services such as electricity, water, transportation and telecommunications without transaction fees.
The feature allows customers to handle different payments through a single app instead of using separate payment platforms or visiting physical payment centers.
Users can also collect shared expenses through the app's Request Money feature.
BDO Pay offers access to installment options for larger purchases and allows customers to lock their BDO credit and debit cards through the app as a security measure.
Opening an account
Consumers without an existing account can open a BDO Basic Account through BDO Pay.
BDO said applicants need only one valid identification document, such as a passport or driver's license, to apply through the app.
The Basic Account requires no initial deposit or maintaining balance.
BDO is positioning the account and payment app as another entry point to digital financial services as consumers increasingly use mobile devices for everyday transactions.
Digital payments
The bank is promoting BDO Pay as an all-in-one payment platform during the holiday shopping period, when consumers typically handle more purchases, transfers and bills.
