The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has formalized a partnership with smart energy and infrastructure firm Esyasoft Technologies Asia to accelerate the country’s energy transition through cleaner and more reliable power systems.

The collaboration will support sustainable infrastructure development and strengthen energy security, particularly in New Clark City, which is being positioned as a next-generation investment hub.

Partnership signed

BCDA President and chief executive officer Joshua M. Bingcang and Esyasoft Technologies Southeast Asia CEO Madhususan Sreedharan signed a memorandum of understanding on April 27, 2026, establishing a framework for cooperation.

The partnership aims to deliver secure, cost-efficient, and environmentally responsible energy solutions to meet rising demand in BCDA-managed properties.

“This kind of infrastructure is more than physical development. It is about building systems that improve the daily lives of the public we serve,” Bingcang said, noting alignment with the government’s push for renewable and clean energy.

Energy storage

A key focus of the collaboration is the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), which can enhance grid stability, optimize energy use, and support the integration of renewable energy.

“There is a big global push for gigawatt hours of energy and battery energy storage. We are aiming for a major battery energy storage solution in the Philippines,” Sreedharan said.

Feasibility studies

Under the agreement, BCDA will support Esyasoft in preparing feasibility studies to assess the technical and commercial viability of proposed projects.

Both parties will also collaborate through information sharing, consultations, and joint project exploration aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
