The report also highlighted the growing problem of spam communications, with over 42 million spam SMS and 6.6 million spam calls recorded during the same period.
According to the report released by CICC representatives, scam messages ranged from phishing attempts to fraudulent promotions, with 25 percent of scams luring victims to register on phishing sites and 18 percent offering fake gift cards or discounts.
Additionally, 17 percent promoted apps from unauthorized sources, while 15 percent involved job or loan scams. Tech gadget-related scams accounted for 14 percent, and 11 percent were education-related.
In the first eight months of 2024 alone, the app recorded more than three million scam messages and 320,978 scam calls, with spam volumes remaining high as well.
