Aboitiz upskills Batangas women for digital entrepreneurship

In a bid to bridge the technology skill gap and promote inclusive participation in the digital economy, Aboitiz Construction and Aboitiz Foundation Inc., in partnership with Connected Women and the local government of Barangay Bagong Pook, launched the Elevate AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation) Program on Oct. 21 in Malvar, Batangas.

The initiative will equip about 50 women with digital and AI-related skills, empowering them to explore remote work opportunities and participate in the fast-evolving digital landscape. It forms part of the broader Aboitiz Foundation and Connected Women effort to train 300,000 women nationwide, advancing technology-driven empowerment in underserved areas.

Bridging the skill divide

“At Aboitiz Construction, we believe that by using technology as an equalizer, the initiative equips women with competencies that open global opportunities, demonstrating how sustainable impact can be achieved through purposeful innovation,” Karmine Andrea Ching, senior assistant vice president for business transformation of Aboitiz Construction, said in a press release on Nov. 3, 2025.

The Elevate AIDA program is designed as an online skills development platform, offering participants training in AI data annotation, digital literacy, and financial empowerment. By focusing on accessible tech learning, the initiative seeks to close the gender gap in digital professions and create new pathways for women in emerging sectors.

Empowering communities through technology

The program underscores the Aboitiz Group’s commitment to inclusive growth, aligning with its mission to drive change for a better world through innovation and education.

Local leaders also hailed the initiative’s community impact. “This program empowers our women to gain new skills, build confidence, and take part in the digital economy,” said Lilibeth Lat, barangay chair of Bagong Pook.
