STI Education Systems Holdings Inc. reported a P619.1-million net income for the first quarter of its current fiscal year ending June 2026.

The company, in a press statement on Nov. 24, 2025, said results for the July-September  period were driven largely by an earlier start of the academic calendar and a shift in revenue recognition method across its network of schools, making this quarter’s figures not directly comparable to those of the previous year.

Driving the news

For school year 2025–2026, STI Education Services Group (STI ESG) and STI West Negros University (STI WNU) opened classes on July 28, 2025, more than two weeks earlier than the Aug. 12 opening in the previous school year.

Both institutions also moved to recognizing tuition and fees based on actual instructional days, replacing the earlier monthly recognition method.

Why it matters

The shift increased the amount of revenue recorded within the quarter but does not change total revenues expected for the full school term.

By the numbers:

  • P1.44 billion gross revenues, up 39 percent from ₱1.04 billion
  • P877.9 million EBITDA, a 61-percent margin, up from 46 percent
  • P657.5 million operating income, more than double of last year’s P285.3 million

The growth was supported by higher recognized revenues and improved cost efficiencies across the Group.

Enrollment snapshot

STI’s total network enrollment reached 132,941 students, a 4-percent dip from last year. The decline is attributed to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) earlier June 16 class opening, which shifted some student enrollment patterns.

Still, CHED-regulated programs remained stable at 102,407 enrollees, while continuing tertiary students increased by 14 percent—from 64,429 to 73,421.

Zoom in: Subsidiary performance

  • STI ESG, the Group’s largest subsidiary with 63 campuses nationwide, recorded 114,569 enrollees and a 14-percent rise in continuing tertiary students.

  • Under a management agreement signed in May 2024, STI ESG oversees PSBA-Manila and PSBA-Quezon City, which jointly enrolled 1,583 students, up 45 percent from last year.

  • STI WNU posted 14,890 enrollees, a 3-percent increase. The university recently completed a new four-story School of Basic Education, raising campus capacity to 18,000 students. STI WNU also received Autonomous Status from CHED in September 2024, granting greater academic flexibility.

  • iACADEMY, known for Computing, Business, and Design programs, enrolled 1,899 students across its Makati and Cebu campuses.

The bottom line

STI Holdings’ strong first-quarter performance reflects operational shifts, stable enrollment in key programs, and expanding capacity across its schools—positioning the group for sustained growth in the current academic year. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
