Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto was appointed special envoy of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and head of the Philippine delegation to the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from Jan. 20 to 24.

Recto’s mission is to secure critical investments that will fuel inclusive economic growth in the Philippines, the Department of Finance said in a statement.

Themed “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” WEF 2025 will bring together nearly 3,000 leaders, including heads of state, top business executives, and global influencers from over 130 countries. Key discussions will focus on sustainable solutions for global challenges.

Recto will lead efforts to attract investments that bolster the country’s high-impact industries, improve logistics, and expand initiatives in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and financial inclusion. These projects are projected to create jobs, boost incomes, and reduce poverty for Filipinos.

The Finance chief, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque, and Ambassador and Philippine Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization Manuel Antonio J. Teehankee will host an economic briefing for global investors at the Philippine Breakfast Interaction.

The event will showcase the country’s potential as the next big investment destination, especially with the recent enactment of the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy (CREATE MORE) Act.

Executives attending include GCash president Martha Sazon, LT Group president Lucio Tan III, LT Group Inc. director and Asia Brewery president Michael Tan, Grab Philippines chief corporate officer Sherielysse Bonifacio and Benguet Corp. director Maria Remedios Romualdez-Pompadou.

Recto’s itinerary includes one-on-one meetings with global companies, participation in forums on energy transition and AI, and media interviews with Bloomberg and Reuters. --Ed: CSN
